As we look ahead to the opening of the regular season, we talk about the players who will be on the Opening Day roster – including Johnny Gaudreau. Which of the veteran players are going to impress us this year, and which veterans do we think will disappoint? Will Glencross and Bollig be players that will have a good or a bad season? Plus – we look at how well some of the Flames young prospects are doing in the Canadian Hockey League so far.
Training camp is now well under way and this week we recap training camp to date, and chat about who’s looking good so far and who’s not impressing us. We look at where some of the older prospects fit into the depth chart, the possibility of the Flames bringing a player in on waivers – and who is available. We cap off the show with our predictions for the Flames opening day roster.
Fireside Chat kicks off our third season as we look at some of the off-season moves the Flames made, we look at who we think will make the team in each position, we talk about the Young Stars tournament in Penticton, and look ahead to training camp.
We spent a week at the Flames development camp at Winsport watching the prospects practice and scrimmage. We’ll let you know who looked good, what we thought of Johnny Gaudreau and Sam Bennett, and which of the walk-on players we think should get a contract. Plus, we interviewed some of the prospects to get their thoughts and opinions on the camp and their development.
On the 50th episode of Fireside Chat, we look at the 2014 Entry Draft and run down the picks the Flames made. We also talk about the players the Flames brought in on July 1 and what we think each one brings to the team, as well as look ahead to the Flames Development Camp.
In the final part of our 2014 Entry Draft preview, we look at the Flames fourth and fifth round picks, and discuss if the Flames could’ve got better value keeping those picks, and we look at rounds 6 and 7 and what type of player the Flames may take there.
In the second part of our 2014 NHL Entry Draft preview, we look at the Flames second round (picks #34 and #54), and third round (#64 and #83) picks in the draft, and the players who the Flames may take with these four picks.
We’re back this week to talk about the latest Flames news, including the announcement of the Adirondack Flames, the departure of Troy Ward, and the Flames Assistant General Managers. In the first of our three part Draft Preview, we look at the Flames fourth overall pick, and we profile the top prospects the Flames might take.
