Episode 101: Five In A Row!

After three more big wins for the Flames to end off the home stand, the Flames are looking good as they head out on the road. We’ll break down the last week of games and look ahead to how we expect the team to do on the road. With Smid playing well and Bouma coming back the Flames have some decisions to make with the roster, which we’ll beak down and offer opinions on. Is Karri Ramo the right goalie for this year, or should the Flames acquire someone else – and what would it cost to do so?

Episode 98: The Quarter Post

As we hit the quarter post of the season we see a weird week for the Flames that included David Jones being tied for the goal lead of the Flames, and Mason Raymond being promoted to the first line and new Heat goalie Kevin Poulin getting injured. We analyze the Flames performance after 21 games and if there is still a chance at the post season. We also address the Travis Harmonic rumour, the new NHL bye week and more on this week’s show.

We’re 19 games into the season and can now fairly assess where the Flames are at. After another disappointing week on the road we break down the games and how the Flames played in each. Based on comments by Rhett Warrener on Fan960 about the Flames having no excuses left we look at what the struggles have been and why the team is struggling and if any changes can be made. Perhaps it’s time to take a different perspective for the rest of the season? The 3 headed monster is back with Hiller coming off the reserve, Derek Grant goes back to Stockton and more news.

As October has come to a close, the Flames hope to put this month behind them and look forward to a better month on November. We talk about the positives we’ve seen in the Flames games recently, and how they may be able to work themselves out of their funk. After a disappointing start, some fans are calling for Bob Hartley to be replaced and we discuss if this is a good idea or not. There is a big focus on goaltending this week as we cover Hiller’s injury, Ramo’s recall and how all 3 goalies have performed over the first 12 games – and if the Flames should give Jon Gillies a start.

Episode 87: Upgrading The Back End

It’s easy to sell pieces and change your team significantly in 24 hours, but it is very difficult to change your team as much for the better as the Flames did this week.

The 2015 Entry Draft is in the books and the Calgary Flames made a big splash by trading for Dougie Hamilton, and drafting both Rasmus Andersson and Oliver Kylington. We’ll discuss the Flames draft, how much they’ve upgraded the blueline – and if the Flames won or lost the trades it took to do so.

With Free Agent season around the corner we’ll also look at the RFAs the Flames qualified and didn’t qualify, and what UFAs we hope the Flames target, and who we stay away from.

With the help of our guest Kevin Olenick of Agree or Disagree: The Podcast, we recap the 2014-2015 season as a whole including looking back at some of our predictions for this year to see how well we predicted the season, and we do an in-depth break down of this year’s team by position and discuss where they need to improve, and what we expect the Flames to do in the off-season including our thoughts on UFAs we’d like to see here.
There is plenty of debate this year as we dig into our final analysis of this year’s excellent Flames run.

Episode 83: It Was In!

In this week’s episode we recap the first three games of the second round series, looking at the highs and lows the Flames have experienced so far. We’ll look at each of the games so far in this series, and dig deep into game three at the Saddledome. We discuss the Sam Bennett goal in Game 3 that the league disallowed and if we think it was “in” or “out”, its similarities to Gelinas’ goal in 2004 and what the league needs to improve to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We also end the show with a nod to Bob Hartley’s Jack Adams Award nomination.

Former Flame Steve Montador passed away this weekend at age 35, and then the Calgary Flames earned a thrilling overtime victory over the Boston Bruins which saw Johnny Gaudreau relegated to the fourth line in the third period. We’ll also look at the recent successes and struggles of Ramo and Hiller and dive into some preliminary trade deadline rumours as we’re less than 2 weeks from the trade deadline.
