With the 2016 NHL Entry Draft behind us we look back at the Flames 9 picks and introduce you to each of the players the Flames selected. Plus we discuss the new Flames coach Glen Gulutzan and speculate on who his new Associate Coach will be. As we look ahead to July 1 and the start of the “Free Agent Frenzy” we speculate who might be a target for the Flames to sign and what holes on the roster need to be addressed.

In this episode we look at the Flames second round picks (35/54/56 overall) and who they should draft, or if they should trade those picks to move up into the last first round. In what is being called a weak draft year we’ll look at what types of players the Flames should take in round 3-7 and what they need to keep the right types of players in the development system.

With 79 games down and only 3 left in the season there is still a lot to discuss! Between the blowout in Anaheim and the Flames big victory in Edmonton to how the callup players played, where Shinkaruk might fit long term and some of the storylines that are still unfolding.
The guys ask each other “why are you still watching the Flames?” and we discuss some of the interesting storylines still unfolding for the team, and we also throw out a hypothetical and ask if the Flames should make a play for Yakupov or Nikushkin to help on the Right Wing.
And we play our last Prediction Game of the season. Who will end up winning this season’s game?

With Johnny Gaudreau, Josh Jooris, and Jykri Jokipakka out with injuries this week it lead to Derek Grant, Hunter Shinkaruk, Emile Poirier, and Brett Kulak being recalled from Stockton on an emergency basis. We’ll recap how all four kids looked in their first game of this recall and Dan and Matt disagree over who we might see back in Calgary next season, and in what role.
We’ll also talk about Jankowski, European UFA Daniel Pribyl, if the Flames can beat the Honda Center Curse and more.

Joni Ortio picked up his first win of the season during a good week for the Flames, in which they earned 3 of a possible 6 points. This week Flames fans got to see some different forward lines and defensive pairings than usual. Even after a good week with 2 of 3 possible wins, The Flames once again find themselves closer to winning the Draft Lottery than the Stanley Cup, and things are getting tense. Coach Harley left the ice early after a practice where the team wasn’t showing the effort they need to be – and Bouma and Monahan showed up late. With Mason Raymond not playing his best the Flames reassigned him to the AHL this week, and brought Jakub Nakladal up to fill in for Wideman (who is suspended 20 games).
We recap the last week of hockey and look ahead to another ‘do or die’ week for the Flames, and predict how they will do. Plus we’ll cover some trade rumours and other news and discussion for the C of Red this week.
