There has been a lot of Flames news since the season ended – Bill Peters is the new Head Coach (and has a new coaching staff), The Flames made a big trade with the Carolina Hurricanes, and the GM says they aren’t done making changes yet.

We’ll recap all the happenings since the season ended, and look ahead to July 1 when Free Agency opens. Who do we expect the Flames to sign? Who are we sad to see go? What will it cost to sign the players the Flames need? These questions and more are answered here.

The disappointing Flames season is over, and this week we break it all down and try to figure out what the heck happened. We look closely at many areas of the team to determine where the Flames went wrong and what needs to be improved.  This week we’ll play “stay or go” with each of the Flames Unrestricted Free Agents, and discuss how different the roster may look next season. Dan poses a “crazy” theory – that the Flames should consider moving Johnny Gaudreau in the next few seasons – and what they’d need to get back for him.

We’re getting down to crunch time for the Flames, where every game is a must win. After a disappointing loss to the Islanders, Glen Gulutzen calls out the Flames at practice, and stresses how much better they need to be. We talk about these issues and more to try and figure out why the Flames have been so inconsistent since the CBA mandated bye week.

With Michael Frolik being out long-term with a jaw injury, where does this leave the Flames “3M” line and how will Andrew Mangiapane fit into the lineup? Matt is at his wit’s end with the Calgary Flames this week, and thinks it is time for the Flames to fire Glen Gulutzen and bring Darryl Sutter back to Calgary to coach the team to solve the team’s woes. Dan think the Flames need to keep the coaching staff in place for the remainder of the season – and the Flames aren’t in as bad a position as Matt thinks and that the Flames can still make the playoffs.

The Flames have ended their longest homestand of the year with good news…their secondary scoring has finally come alive! Mark Jankowski and Jaromir Jagr have had fantastic chemistry this week to propel the Flames to 2 big wins in a row. Of course we’re discussing the secondary scoring and how we feel about the roster and the Flames chances at the 17 game point. With Mike Smith’s injury in the St. Louis game, we’ll discuss the options for the Flames in net on their road trip, and how we feel about the Flames chances in their next 6 games in 11 days on the road.

This week the waiver wire was busy as the Flames placed Tanner Glass and Freddie Hamilton on waivers. We discuss these and other roster moves and where Jagr will fit into the lineup upon his return and the secondary scoring woes. On the bright side, there is a lot to like in Stockton right now.
